"Enemies fail to notice you walk up behind them"
Rat a tat go the guns, neeyoorm go the missiles, bing goes the Xbox: "achievement unlocked" argh goes your character, aww go you; you weren't quick enough, you've been stabbed for the fifty sixth time that hour. Call of Duty World at War has a lot to live up to. Last year Infinity Ward surpassed all expectations with Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare. Heralded by many as the best game of last year, CoD4 impressed everyone. It was the multiplayer that everyone loved; it remains one of the most played games on Xbox Live, and I'm sure its the same on the PlayStation Network. So after last year's success, development duties have passed back to Treyarch, who have made the third COD. In a nutshell, CoD World at War is everything CoD4 was (but now in World War 2). But that's the problem. ...

Erm...I'm struggling to find a way to start this preview other than "Bond is Back" - well at least, he will be, on October 31st, and of course he will be appearing (For the first time ever as Daniel Craig) in video game format too. Now, for me, the best Bond game ever was Nightfire (2002) for PS2, which, though it was a very good game in most aspects, should have no trouble being outdone by its next-gen counterparts. And I have to say that the next Bond game does certainly look like it is going to be the best yet (And the first released for PC - good news for me). So what's it going to be like? Well it will be better than previous Bonds because... It's based on an updated ...

After this year's highly successful No More Heroes, from Rising Star Games, it seemed inevitable that there would be a second version. Announced at the Tokyo Game Show the other day, No More Heroes Desperate Struggle will continue on from this year's highly acclaimed No More Heroes. You continue to play as Travis Touchdown, and take on a mission of revenge after your best friend is murdered. Suda51, the game's creator promised an improved game engine, graphics, a busier Santa Destroy and a "much darker tone". The game's creator, Suda51 There are going to be two versions of Desperate Struggle (in the UK), one with the same 16+ age rating as the first No More Heroes, and a second with blood and gore, Rising Star Games confirmed to us. A release has been penciled in for ...

"Always get paid." We have a look at EA's third person action shoot em up fighting extravaganza, Mercenaries 2, and ...
I waited a while for Mercenaries 2, the follow up to the shallow but entertaining original. The name of the game is still destruction but this time around there's a massive amount of bugs and not enough was added to make the single player mode seem fresh. Luckily the co-op is tons of fun. Graphics this time around are give and take. From afar the game looks pretty bad. Everything looks like just plain colored polygons with low res textures on them. Up close is kind of the same story as sweat on the character models looks more like body glitter and damage to vehicles looks like a pixilated mess. It's the mid range where thing look pretty good but then again the game suffers from pop up. Luckily for this engine, slow down isn't a problem no matter how much explosive goodness you unpack in ...

It's deja vu all over again. Now, I like Indiana Jones, and I enjoy the simple but fun idea of Lego.Technically, the two should fit together easily, and forge a good game. However, this is prevented by one simple fact: it's been done before. The Legofication of Star Wars Episodes 1,2 and 3 was great fun, and sold well, because it was interesting, it was fun, but most importantly, it was new. Even the second one, moving on to episodes 4,5, and 6 was quite enjoyable - after all, they added new features like creating your own character. But Lego Indiana Jones is just retreading old ground. They may have new(ish) features like using different tools for different purposes, but in actual fact, they had that in the Star Wars ones as well - only now Force powers have been replaced with spades, Jar Jar's high jump now belongs to the women (no, I ...

I would definitely suggest you to try out this game if you are a fan of first person shooter games. There are 150 playable characters of which only sixty-seven are unlocked by default and another eighty-three to be unlocked, making it a lot more funner than TimeSplitters 2 as there are more characters. The Multiplayer mode now has co-op campaign however it is just the same as the single player co-op, which makes it boring once you have completed it in single or multiplayer mode, however it is a lot better than TimeSplitters 2 as you now have your friend helping you rather than having the computer as a Team player. As usual there is the fun arcade mode, which has a maximum number of four players and 12 bots, and the modes: Deathmatch, Team Deathmatch, Bagtag, Team Bagtag, Virus, Elimination, ...

A way to sum up all Tomb Raiders? Quite possibly. But the question now is: Were they any good? I’m probably angering every Lara Croft fan everywhere when I say this, but... Tomb Raider games are only really for the Lara-obsessed. The fighting is terrible – it takes about 50 shots to kill a single velociraptor, and you have to keep running, or stay on a wall to survive their onslaught, as you’ll be fighting at least 3 of these at a time. On the other hand, the jumping from walls, on top of poles, across ravines is very Prince-of-Persia-like, except more realistic, as in it could actually happen. Maybe. And some of the parts of the game are classic. For example, falling over a waterfall, do you scream for help? Of course not – you turn the move into a jaw dropping dive bomb. Sadly, ...

I just finished my play through of Spider-man: Friend or Foe, the latest game to cash in on the Spider-man craze. The game’s plot loosely ties into the story of the movies; by loosely I mean it’s more of a spin off than anything else. Also the game comes with a trailer movie for a new Saturday morning cartoon featuring the web head himself and the game clearly owes more to the cartoon in style and substance than the blockbuster movies. In the graphics department, Friend or Foe is by no means photorealistic nor is it that blurry cel-shaded mess that the X-Men legends were. In this game, all the characters are fluid, nicely rendered and pretty good detailed caricatures of their movie/comic counterparts. There are about 15 well known to lesser known heroes and villains in the game ranging from Green Goblin, Venom ...

Finished Just Cause and I have to say this is one mixed game that for everything it does right, it does two or three things wrong. In the end it does come through as a solid action game despite production decisions that make very little sense. I’ll start with the graphics. Just Cause has some major draw distance that works well. There are some things such as waves crashing on the shores and major tree shadows that tend to pop up but for the most part the game looks good environment wise. A couple of things this game does even downright impressed me; the way that driving on dirt roads for awhile makes dust accumulate on the shiny cars, or the way you can actually fly through storm clouds was almost beautiful. However, here comes the things that just don’t seem to fit; the ...

I just graduated from Bullworth Academy, In other words I’ve finished the main story in Bully. It took me a little while to get around to it because of an issue with my old PS2 and I was actually debating if I should get a new PS2 or just forget about this game. Thankfully I did get a new one and got to play one of the most surprisingly good games in my recent memory. I must start out by saying that Bullworth Academy and its surrounding area is one of the best towns that I’ve seen rendered in a video game. The game is really gives the impression that you’re in a living, breathing school and bustling little village. While you progress through the game, more of Bully’s environment becomes available to you starting off with just the school yard and ending up encompassing a ...
